Jonathan Levande is the father of a sick child. The doctors are stumped and she is on death’s door. He’s been a failure as a husband due to his infidelities and now it seems he’ll lose his daughter as well. He’s employed by an architectural restoration company and his latest project is a haunted, old church in Delaware. There he meets the Rector of St. Cecelia and a supernatural solution is presented that would restore his daughter to health. Jonathan must sell his soul. It is a bargain struck in hell, a life for a life or his daughter dies.

Jonathan’s life is complicated. His daughter is deathly ill. He’s involved in a strained relationship with Angela Thorne, a mysterious woman from his past, who he believed to be dead. His wife hates him. A storm is brewing off the coast, threatening destruction. The job is behind schedule. His only friend, Solomon Jones, a de-frocked priest acts as his spiritual guide. Jonathan agrees to the deal, but at a price he didn’t anticipate. His daughter lives but becomes possessed by a vengeful spirit of the dead.

Spirits of the Dead is a masterpiece of supernatural horror, a tightly woven tale with fraying threads of emotion. Readers will be scared. They will also be moved. As much a psychological thriller as it is a story of possession, the tension builds moment by moment and the dread seeps from the page. The atmosphere, the psychological depth, the visual imagery and the desperate actions of a diverse cast of characters breathe life into the book, working the kind of magic and fear at the heart of great horror.
